How I was able to hold my breath for 2-minutes longer…

Greenwood Village chiropractor discusses man diving into water, how to hold your breath longer

Before I begin…I want to start by saying…how long I can hold my breath has nothing to do with being a Greenwood Village chiropractor, or owner of Prime Chiropractic.

The other day I was introduced to a guy named Wim Hof.

Ever heard of him?

He holds countless Guinness Book World Records…check him out here.

One thing he has become famous for is his breathing method, where he’s able to hold his breath for insane amounts of time (6-7 minutes).

Honestly, holding my breath for long periods of time was never my strong suit…

So, while learning the Wim Hof breathing method, I didn’t have huge expectations. For one, it’s extremely simple, and doesn’t require much training.

For the record, the longest I’ve ever been able to hold my breath has been around 1-minute.

Not terrible…but also not impressive.

Well, the other day, I decided to attempt Wim Hof’s breathing technique.

And to my fascination…after going through 2-rounds like he instructs, I found myself holding my breath for an astounding 3-minutes!

To be clear, this required around 10-minutes of instruction, before trying out.

Nonetheless, my results exceeded my loftiest expectations.

And the experience helped me get a tangible idea of what sorts of things are possible in my body, when I’m equipped with a better strategy.

The reason I’m telling this story is because this same truth applies to people I see on a daily basis in my office.

Something that has always fascinates me about humans is how we determine if we’re functioning at 100%…

The way we do this is by measuring how we ‘feel’.

If we “feel” good, then we think we’re healthy.

This sometimes can be true, but feeling good doesn’t necessarily equate to good health.

Even more important, when people feel good, it doesn’t mean they’re functioning at their prime.

This is very evident when someone comes to our office, and begins implementing the strategies we teach.

Many times, even if they ‘felt’ good to begin, they’ll notice improvements in their body and overall health.

The reason for the increase in function is because they’re implementing higher-level strategies for their health…much like I did with the Wim Hof Breathing Method.

If you’re wondering what’s possible, or want to take your health to the next level…

The time is now, take action!

Whether it’s in our office or somewhere else. Don’t just base your health off how you feel.

I felt like I could hold my breath for a decent amount of time…I had no idea what was possible!
