Are you sure you have sciatica?

how do you know if you have sciatica, here are some exercises for sciatica from a chiropractor in Centennial CO, sciatica climbing

Many people suffer with sciatica, but are you sure you have sciatica?

In fact, it’s one of the most common reasons people visit a doctor.

However, many people are actually misguided when it comes to this specific diagnosis.

You see, there are many different issues that can mimic sciatica.

Piriformis Syndrome is a great example.  Those who suffer with Piriformis Syndrome will typically have shooting pain into the buttox and sometimes down the leg.  However, this doesn’t necessarily mean sciatica.

Sciatica occurs when the shooting pain runs down the back of the leg, and past the knee.

If your discomfort doesn’t run past the knee, then what you have isn’t true sciatica.

The reason this is important is from a diagnostic standpoint.  Without understanding what the real symptoms are for each syndrome or disorder, it’s much more difficult for doctors to fix.

As with any issue that steps foot in my office, I’m not as concerned about labeling it with a name as I am determining what caused it in the first place.

For example, if you’re suffering from back pain running down the leg, did it come from bad posture?  Too much sitting at a desk?  Improper biomechanics?

If you’re ever going to completely fix the problem, you’ll need to first determine the source of your issue.  Only then can you begin to take steps toward building yourself back up again.

Anything else will just be a temporary fix.  No different than taking green paint and covering up dying brown leaves on a tree.

They may look better, temporarily, but the problem is still there.  The tree still has no water.  It will continue falling apart until there’s nothing left.

The same thing occurs in our bodies.

Regardless of your diagnosis, determining the ultimate cause of the problem is essential if you hope to ever heal your body.
