The Billion Dollar Stretch to Fix Your Posture

Are you frustrated with your posture? Do you often wonder “What can I do to fix my posture?” Even after trying everything, are you left feeling like you’ll never get your posture to change?

If you’ve tried things like:

-sitting up tall

-proper screen height

-posture brace

-etc

It’s not uncommon for us to see people struggling with the structure of their spine even after trying everything they can think of.

Enter the Billion Dollar Posture Exercise

This strategy offsets many of the postural challenges you face at work, home, car, or some other setting.

When most people sit down, they are stationary for far longer than their bodies are built to endure. Therefore, over the next few minutes or hours their posture and position begins to change.

For example, most people sitting in a chair for too long will begin to tuck their pelvis underneath and round their lower back. At the same time this is happening, their shoulders round forward and their head begins to drift in front of the body.

This is a common problem that occurs from too much static. Unfortunately, most don’t know it’s happening, nor do they know what to do about it. So, they continue to repeat the position and cause the problem to get worse.

How to Fix Your Posture

The Billion Dollar Posture Exercise was built to counter the negative impacts of sitting.

  1. The first step is to stand up against a wall and place a yoga block in between the wall and your shoulder blades.
  1. Step two requires you to arch your back. This is the same as creating anterior tilt in your hips/pelvis.
  1. In step 3, you need to bring your shoulders back toward the wall and lift your chin.
  1. Step 4 is the final step. Here you’ll retract your chin and pull the back of your head towards the wall.

Hold this position for 10-seconds and repeat 10 times.

What You Can Expect

By doing this regularly, you’re helping to offset the stress of sitting too long during the day. You’re also working to keep your spine in a neutral and upright position.

Most people suffering with postural changes don’t realize the issues that are at play deeper inside their bodies.

If you walk around with forward head carriage or what is known as tech neck, then you probably don’t love how you look. Also, you’re likely aware of the repercussions of sitting too long, at least from an esthetic perspective.

Your Spine Protects Your Nervous System

Did you know if your spine is shifted and in an unhealthy position it will cause pressure and stress on your nervous system?

If there’s pressure on your nervous system there’s likely problems wherever those irritated nerves run. That’s because your nervous system runs everything in your body. So, a problem in your nervous system usually means a problem in your body.

What Does a Problem in Your Nervous System Do?

These issues may present as pain and discomfort in your neck, shoulders, head, or even lower back. But, pain isn’t always what shows up. Sometimes, the symptoms are things like hormone imblance, fatigue, high blood pressure, or digestive troubles.

Unfortunately, most people are unaware about the role their posture plays in their overall health and wellbeing. So, they’ll simply disregard their warped structure as anything more than an unpleasant position their body holds.

If you’ve noticed your spine becoming worse over time and you want to fix your posture before it gets worse, now is the time.
